Fox 5 Sports

Last Sunday night we went into the city for a quick interview on Fox 5 Sports with Duke Castiglione. After the segment we headed back towards the ferry and stopped by Clyde Frazier's Wine and Dine, and even got to meet Mr. Frazier himself! The upscale sports bar was really cool, with framed leopard print canvases, pillars, and a glass basketball court (complete with a player). The menu had a wide range of offerings, and the food was tasty. Definitely not your average sports bar!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Pearl Queen

Hi, guys! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We had great weather over here on the east coast this weekend --- not too hot, not too cool, so on Friday I decided to give my new French Connection sequined jacket a test drive. I asked for this jacket as a birthday gift, and it was delivered :-) The sequins give such a cool opalescent effect to the piece, much like the inside of an oyster, so it looks different depending on the light. I can already see myself wearing it over and over again!

That night we met up with my brother for dinner and a party in the city. He suggested a place I've been hearing great things about: Cafeteria on 7th Ave. We definitely were not disappointed! Apparently they have amazing Mac 'n Cheese... and if you know me, you know I'm a Mac 'n Cheese addict... but, unfortunately, we never got to try it (oh, well. better luck next time). We did, however, have the shrimp risotto, steak, and meatloaf. Wow, best risotto I've ever had! Cafeteria will undoubtedly become a favorite. Great food and a great atmosphere!

Hoboken Art & Music Festival

As we were brainstorming about what to make for breakfast this past Sunday, a Twitter follower of mine told me about the Hoboken Art & Music Festival that was taking place that afternoon. We haven't had the chance to really go out and explore Jersey much yet, but kept hearing that Hoboken is a really cool area to hang out with lots of great little restaurants and shops. I'm a huge fan of festivals/street fairs: they're a fantastic way to get acquainted with local merchants and artists, hear some live music, pig out and get some fresh air. So we got dressed and headed over to Hoboken! There were tons of people walking along Washington, and the tents seemed to stretch for miles. We saw some awesome artwork by a guy called Missfit, and lots of jewelry vendors. Of course, Marty had to have a funnel cake (that sweet tooth), and we picked up some fudge and sprinkle-topped caramel apples as well.

On our way back, we stopped at a restaurant and had the most delicious pizza with pesto, mushrooms, pepperoni, and black olives. My favorite! I tend to be a little more adventurous than my husband when it comes to food, but he ended up loving it too. Definitely saw a few shops that I will want to go back and check out another day, though. Marty said the vibe in Hoboken reminded him a bit of Austin.

Sundays are all about being casual and comfortable for me, and since we were doing so much walking, I threw on a Zara waistcoat and laced up my black Jordan 3's. It turned out to be such a beautiful day, perfect for a festival, an outdoor lunch, and exploring a new place with my favorite person. Now we're heading out to catch the new Avengers movie! Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

P.S. How cool is the new Rockit Dope snapback Marty designed?? I can't wait for my hair to get longer so I can wear hats again lol.

Birthday Cake BOSS 5.4.2012

Wow! I had such an amazing birthday! I had everything I needed: great company, great champagne, great gifts, and a great cake! Since we never had a wedding cake (or an actual wedding for that matter, lol), my husband decided to get me a super special, elaborate birthday cake... well, mission accomplished! He chose a red velvet cake adorned with a highly detailed figurine designed to look like me as my favorite mythical creature: a mermaid! I was blown away by how cool it was in person. Of course, the task of getting my cake was perfect for Marty, seeing as he has a huge sweet tooth. Supposedly he tried just about everything they had in the bakery, and even came home with a few freebies! Yum!

So, many thanks to the talented people over at the famous Cake Boss bakery, Carlo's Bake Shop in Hoboken, New Jersey for crafting this masterpiece of a dessert! Thank you to my wonderful husband for being so creative and thoughtful :-) and thank you to everyone who spent my birthday with me in my new apartment, as well as those who sent me well wishes via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and phone. It was one to remember!

My First Blog Post!

Well, we are officially settled in New Jersey! I am so happy to be back on the East Coast, and as much as I love Dallas and the Bay Area, there's just something about this region of the country that speaks to every aspect of who I am. From the moment I stepped foot in Times Square at 14, I knew I belonged here. And so it begins...

This is such a crazy, amazing, hectic time in my husband's life, and I'm so excited to be experiencing these changes with him, as well as experiencing a few of my own. New city, new beginnings. It feels like we have met so many people and done so many cool things already in a few short weeks, that I know this year is going to truly be a memorable one! There are endless opportunities and ventures in NYC, and I'm beyond eager to embark :-)

So... I ended up here. In the aftermath of my 23rd birthday, I decided to start a blog to catalogue this year (and years to come, I'm sure). Ferry rides, special events, dates with my hubby, football games, family get-togethers, strolls around the city, Sunday brunches, dinners with friends, love affairs with fashion, and everything in between! Cheers!

Welcome to my 23rd year...
